Growing membership and support

As we become an incorporated body known as – Food Collective Central Coast Inc. -membership and support is growing. We are very fortunate to have Fortunity Chartered Accountants and Financial Planners guide our incorporation as well as Sharpe Design Solutions designing our logo and supporting our promotional efforts.

Some of our local growers members are participating in a trial with HiveXchange to supply local produce into Mingara Recreation Club. This is an important test of an online wholesale marketplace with our partner HiveXchange and to assess the level of interest in local food by club patrons.

The Collective is working closely with Gosford City Rotary’s Toast the Coast committee on the event for 2018. We were also pleased to be part of Council’s inaugural Harvest Festival with one of our members, Sue Brew of Mountain Growers Market hosting an event at Peats Ridge School.

The Harvest Festival showed the true potential of food as a tourist drawcard. Together with Central Coast Plateau Harvest Trail the future of food tourism seems assured.

Our next step is to showcase members of the Food Collective every few weeks.

“Tourists are attracted to local produce and many destinations are centering their product development and marketing accordingly… With their proximity to food-producing lands, rural communities often enjoy a comparative advantage when it comes to serving up traditional fare. Tourism, particularly food tourism, allows these communities to generate income and employment opportunities locally…” Secretary-General, World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)
